KHALIFAH SPARK : IGNITING POTENTIAL LEADERSHIP
From the time we prepared the module and conducted rehearsals before going to SMI al-Amin Gombak, we equipped ourselves to share knowledge with the Form 3 students and realised that this programme was not an ordinary activity, but an initiative aimed at contributing to society by shaping a generation with strong leadership qualities. As a result, we carefully planned useful and beneficial activities with the specific objective of imparting knowledge that would have a long-lasting effect on the students. Over the course of the program, we found that the majority of students already had some fundamental leadership skills, which made it easier for us to organize and carry out the activities successfully. Through carrying out of a variety of tasks, we improved our time management, flexibility and teamwork abilities especially when managing diverse student attitudes and working under pressure while also gaining invaluable experience in observing student behavior and identifying the leadership challenges they faced. Even though the program was difficult to implement, we found it quite satisfying to witness the students' active and passionate participation. In the end, we successfully completed the program and received great feedback from both the students and teachers engaged.
The project also provided students with meaningful opportunities to apply their existing leadership skills through well-structured activities, which helped strengthen their self-confidence and sense of responsibility. Participating in group taught students how to work well with others, follow directions and accept responsibility for their roles in finishing tasks. Through the exercises, students were also able to evaluate and identify their strengths and shortcomings in critical leadership domains like cooperation, communication, decision-making and time management. Students were exposed to actual leadership difficulties through engaging, hands-on activities that challenged them to think critically, adjust to changing circumstances and work together to solve problems. This helped them develop resilience and determination. Overall, the project played an important role in nurturing students who are more confident, self-aware and better prepared to practise leadership skills in real-life situations, both within the school environment and beyond.
