DOCUMENTARY FILMMAKING: A COLLABORATIVE PROJECT WITH THE KAMPUNG PEROS COMMUNITY

The SULAM project has created a meaningful and lasting impact on both the Kampung Peros community and the students and lecturers from the Cinematography Programme at UNIMAS. One of the most significant outcomes is the strengthened spirit of teamwork, fostering a deep and productive collaboration between all parties involved. The project has also increased Kampung Peros' visibility, attracting interest from outsiders, particularly through social media platforms like Facebook. This heightened recognition has directly benefited the community by boosting tourism and generating additional income. Beyond economic impact, the project has nurtured strong relationships and friendships between the university and the community. This bond has further empowered FACA’s outreach efforts, bridging the gap between academic institutions and local communities, and reinforcing the value of collaboration and shared growth.
