The programme successfully enhanced students’ understanding of freedom of speech and expression, particularly in the context of Malaysia’s legal framework. Pre- and post-programme surveys revealed a significant increase in awareness, with over 79% of participants gaining a clearer grasp of the concept and its legal boundaries, such as the Sedition Act 1948 and the Defamation Act 1957. Participants demonstrated a mature appreciation of responsible speech, recognising the importance of fact-checking and respectful engagement, especially on social media platforms.
