WHAT ABOUT US? ADVOCACY AGAINST CHILD NEGLECT THROUGH VISUAL STORYTELLING
Impact to students: The project titled “What About Us? Advocacy Against Child Neglect Through Visual Storytelling” aims to raise public awareness on the issue of child neglect through creative engagement. This initiative involves the production of short animated films and visual advocacy materials, including posters and exhibition content, that convey the emotional and social effects of neglect on children. In collaboration with the Drama and Theatre department, students will design background settings and media elements to support the visual storytelling process. Impacts on community: The project created meaningful engagement between the university and the community by addressing social issues through creative expression. The theatre production Teater Muzikal Anak Jalanan, supported by animation student contributions in visual aids for theatre performance, raised awareness about the lives of marginalized children and encouraged empathy among audiences. Community members who attended the performances gained exposure to thought-provoking content delivered in an entertaining and accessible format. Additionally, the fundraising initiative, the icecream sales channeled support directly to charitable causes, demonstrating how art can be used as a platform for advocacy and social change. Overall, the project fostered a deeper connection between students and the community, encouraging mutual understanding, education through the arts, and collaborative efforts towards social well-being.
